Gallery 60SIX presents “Dedication” by Isabelle Maynard, her third show with the gallery. The exhibition opens December 2nd, 2017, through January 20, 2018.
Dividing her time between Toulouse, France and Napa, California, Maynard utilizes an unusual process where she initially covers the canvas with a thin layer of plaster, providing a smooth ground for her graphite drawings. The loose automatic lines of her drawings, sometimes drawn with her eyes closed, rest beneath washes of ochre, grey and white. The marks are subtle, delicate and at times brutal and primal. The new work favors energetic, explosive marks.
A private reception will be held December 2, 2017. The artist will attend the closing reception, Saturday Jan. 20, 4-7pm, 2018. This show is at the 60SIX annex at 12 Elgin Park, San Francisco. Her work is also displayed regularly at the Kneedler/Fauchere showroom on Henry Adams in San Francisco and in it’s Los Angeles showroom at the Pacific Design Center.
