Shy Tidings

Paintings on cardboard shred mat

60SIX presents the eleventh exhibition of Jürgen Trautwein’s paintings in a series called "Shy Tidings".

The small object-like paintings on cardboard packing material feel like artifacts excavated from buried hidden places. They are modern painting “Trautwein style”...utilizing a substrate of detritus from twenty first century lifestyles, then transformed by the artist’s additive and subtractive process of layering paint in planned accidents. The result is a suite of paintings with luxurious texture, mystery, surface tension and contours we don’t expect to see.

Into the Unknown

Jurgen Trautwein’s exhibition “Into the Unknown", is his ninth show of paintings at 60SIX. Consistent with most of his painting series the artist used found objects as the canvas. Large print fashion ads in a hanging banner format provide a front and back surface for the work.

Paintings

Jürgen Trautwein presents his new suite of paintings in an eighth exhibition with 60SIX, “R u Sirius”. His practice of using found objects continues as in this series printed vellum maps of game animals and star constellations act as the canvas, both showing through and at times creating resistance with the acrylic paint. Jürgen has an uncanny ability to seemingly effortlessly integrate elements of subjects or materials he confronts in daily life into his paintings.

Train Ride to Luxor

Paintings

60SIX presents Jürgen Trautwein’s new body of paintings “Train Ride to Luxor,” his fifth exhibition with the gallery. TRTL is a series of paintings inspired by a segment of the artist’s five month journey through southern Europe, specifically his experience in a train from Cairo to Luxor. The paintings are structured with a simple powerful graphic of a blurred field of space, a rectangle or two, light and dark, movement and stillness. They seem to instill a vision of the past, present and future in one moment.
