A Different Stripe: Paintings and Journals

British musician, composer and painter, Peter Whitehead, presents paintings and journals in his second solo show at 60SIX.
His paintings are constructed with diagonal, horizontal and vertical lines. Born of a musician’s sensibility, the paint transforms into harmonious sequences of dense layered stripes, and in other canvases, high pitched colors strike the canvas in open space. The series called “East River” was inspired by the lights on the river on his walks living a few blocks from the East River in New York.
